Well here I am in filler land with what appears to be a tribute to
Westerns. Truth to tell, I still like it better than the Naruto
episodes before the filler. However I do have trouble figuring out
how a bounty hunter would be able to make a living with all those
ninja around doing the same job. The competition would be murder.
Hinata still has a bad case of useless girl syndrome.

Easy, they're cutting out the middle man. If the dude went to the
Ninja village, he'd pay a certain fee, and upon confirmed completion of
the job, he'd pay the bounty. Some (if not all) of that would be taken
for the welfare of the village, to replace or repair weapons used, etc.
With being a direct bounty hunter, Naruto would make more directly
through less overhead and the bounty provider could cut his/her costs
to reclaim what the bounty was for.

-_-' Bad pun, sir, very bad pun.

In the episode Naruto, Hinata, and the Amazing Dog Boy run into two
bounty hunters who are not ninja at all, one of whom hands them their
butts through pure vanilla jutsu-less skill. He's the Jubei in their
Ninja Scroll. The other one doesn't seem quite so good. The good one
is after the same guy the team is after, and he turns out to be a
rogue ninja who hands the good one his butt so I guess they'll team up
once they solve one other minor barrier to getting together.

Just out of curiosity, why are we worrying about the implications and
world-view of filler?

Just out of curiosity, why would any one worry about the implications and

world view of "canon" stuff. Even though Naruto is probably one of the best
cartoons that CN has ever had, it is still just a cartoon.

Personally, that makes me question your sanity. However, that doesn't
change my question. It's not canon.

Uhh...other people get to say their opinions about anime. Why can't I say

mine? I like it, and I do have opinions about what shows I like and that I
do not, I suppose, but in the final analyses, it is still nothing more than
"just cartoons."

He is just expressing his opinion about the show. What on earth is wrong

with that? He likes the current "filler" better than stuff that is "canon."
What in hell is wrong with that?

<shrug> I like Hinata. Sure, she's generally useless but she's more
appealingly useless than Sakura.

However, that doesn't

It constitutes it's own canon. I'm not fond enough of Naruto manga to
be married to its continuity.
