I mentioned this in a thread at the past-films newsgroup. The initial
question was: "Which 15 films would you show in your class to
introduce the kids to the richness, depth, breadth, meaning, wonder,
complexity, diversity, and suchnessity of cinema as art, history,
culture, etc?"
(There was also a thread here, some years ago, asking which old movies
work best with today's kids.)
So I said:
This may not be on anyone's top ten list of pre-WWII comedies, but *I*
think it's underrated, especially when it comes to getting kids to
appreciate B&W films before it's too late: "The Milky Way," starring
Harold Lloyd.

I think the scenes in parts 2 and 3 are best, but others disagree.
Of course, when it comes to B&W comedies, Charlie Chaplin works very
well on kids of all ages too.
