Nah, her recent version (Nights in Alhambra) of On Raglan Road
is absolutely the best thing she's done, AND the best version
of THAT song anyone has ever done.

Then, for me, it's Lady of Shallot, then Between the Shadows.

Hi I'm flying into Ireland by Ryanair, and just wondering if people
have had trouble carrying instruments into the cabin. I will only have
a mandolin in a hard case, which will fit in an overhead locker.
But I'm just a bit worried coz they had a special box to
tick stating if you have a musical instrument. They seem to like
making money on 'extras' and was wondering if they'll try and
inconvenience me in some way, such as making me pay to check it in as
hold luggage, or if there are any annoying rules about instruments in
general with them.
Does anyone have any experience with this airline and can
shed any light on this?

thanks if you can help
Selma

Hi,
I just flew with Ryanair Teesside to Dublin,
with my tenor banjo in a hard case, I took it onto the plane as hand
luggage, it fitted in the top compartment no problem,
and I had no querying customs in either airport.
My only gripe, is that I booked a single suitcase for me and the wife,
on returning back, the case was overweight (15 KG limit)
and was charged an extra 60 euros!!

So be wary of this.

Cheers

Hello, all ...

I have a slight-problem:

A couple of weeks ago I decided to haul out my Jim MacLeod ablum (33
1/3 rpm) and ponder it.
I love the music, BUT! As the phongraph is a dinosaur, now, I can no
longer listen to the album :(

So, here's my problem... How can I transfer the music on the album to
mp3 or, better yet, CD?

Any help in the matter will be greatly appreciated :)

I've had reasonably good luck using a stereo RCA <-> stereo mini-phono
patch cord to go from the line outs on an amp or board to the line in on
a computer sound card, the using the Audacity software [free from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/] to record and save as MP3 or whatever.
The patch cord can be had from Radio Shack - has a single mini-phono
stereo plug [goes into the sound card] that split to two RCA plugs.
The "mixer" for the OS audio engine may also play into it - you may need
to set levels there.

I've also done this with cassette tapes.

I'd be interested to hear your results, if you try this.
