Here are the highlights from the four (4) Scrabble games played last
night,
Wednesday, August 27 2008, at the Dover Scrabble Club (Delaware).
(Just
Elsie and myself showed up.)

We use the American Heritage dictionary and do not allow phony
words.
Still, we make longer words and score more points than you. Our
finished
boards are works of art.

Just these 2-letter words:

LO ME NO PA RE TI UH UT WE XI

Of the 133 different words on the finished boards, 57 were played
for the first time in the club. We scored 32.3 points per turn as
a club.

Highlights:

Elsie making the highest scoring single-word play (no double- or
triple-
word score) I've ever seen: WHEEZY for 52 points. Many years ago I
landed QUICK across two triple-letter scores for 50 points.

In the 4th game I dropped 9 bombs in my first 9 plays: NEEDIER,
PARITIES,
ENERVATED, ARRIVAL, AIRMAIL, BRAYED, YOUNGER, UNRATED, and REVOTED.
(My
10th and last play was HULA.)

Dimlight:

Me spelling SHERIF because I don't know how to spell SHERIFF, but
getting
credit for it because it turns out a SHERIF is a descendant of
Muhammad.

Scrabble players with any experience and the slightest perception
looking at the above lists should cry out, "That's impossible!
Mere mortals can't possibly do such a thing!" Here's how:
