Ten years ago, man in a balloon

All the while he was yelling

Back at the turn of the century, Tripp Wrigley's songwriter's series
was one of the big nights of the week, in the early days of Uptown
Tap. Now, years later, TW's back, now at the Vault in downtown
Shadowville, for the first of his new songwriter/front porch picking
nights... every Wednesday.
This is right downstairs from the Loft open mic, so the idea will be
to hit both, making the new season a sure smash for performers. See
y'all on the streets of Broadway tonight, I sure do hope.

Yet here you are, sniffing behind with your desperate whines about how
you care so little... giving new meanings to the term ''begging to
differ''.
Anyway, the first Trip Wriggley ''front porch pickers'' episode went
well, with many old homeschool musicians from years past, when Tripp
was a big force behind the classic Uptown Tap days of Bubba Wade and
Larry Caddel, appaering- Charlie Tignor from Auburn, Dean of the
legendary Skydog Gypsy band on guitar, Bibb City Ramblers Brian Fowler
and Dan Davidson, and a blast to the past as Brian Fowler, Gene-0
Woolfolk, Henry Conly, Dean Skydog and Kerry Lowe did cover of
Locomotive Breath, like in the old days of 2000 or so.
Next week Tripp's booked Riley Yielding, Rick Edwards and the Dockery-
Conley show to headline, with many assorted special guests.

Hello, Carol... no, I didn't know who you were until PDW informed me

getting gigs up that way. Wondered how things were going recently,
watching the floods up there they were showing on the television.

No, just posted a link to Carol's song, you don't even seem to know the

Yet here you are, obviously interested enough to play the jeering heckler.
And since you seem so interested, here's the suggested sequence for the
Dockery-Conley third of the show at the Vault:
1. Twilight Girl
2. The Surgeon General
3. Desk Clerk at the Courtyard
4. Balck and Blue Night
5. Fade Away Encounter
6. Truck Stop Woman
7. Crawford Road Crawl
8. Cheshire Bridge Road
9. Falling From Grace
10. Wobble
11. Ozone Stigmata
12. Black Eagle Lady

Yes, it went pretty well, considering their choice to go right up against
The Loft on Wednesdays.
Big differences are Tripp books 3-4 performers each week, and pays them, and
there isn't an open mic, but at the end of the night Tripp takes the stage
and does the ''jamming'' thing.
We all know how the Vault is quick to change formats, but it's a good thing
for now, and he's actively curious about booking performers that have come
along in the several years since he's been gone, for example, I gave him
Brian Mallard's CD to see if he can get a spot in the coming month, Riley
Yielding is on for next week, and Dockery-Conley's booked again next month.
So, pass the word, y'all... it ain't bad to get paid to perform on a
Wednesday in Shadowville... keywords are acoustic, songwriter, get paid,
talk to Tripp Wrigley, not the Vault, since he's calling all the shots on
this one.
